Air India has previewed Vista Digital Platform, a new in-house connected in-flight entertainment system that will link entertainment, loyalty, commerce and travel services across its aircraft. The rollout is planned to begin in the second half of 2027, starting with select new deliveries before expanding across the wider fleet.
The platform is being developed by the airline’s design and software teams and is now being integrated with onboard IFE hardware. Air India plans to use the system to deliver more personalised content, maintain continuity across flights and replace some hardware-led upgrades with over-the-air updates.
A patent-pending commerce-on-map feature is expected to let passengers discover and potentially book destination-related services while in flight. The airline also expects the platform to create a more consistent experience across different aircraft types and to speed up feature deployment at lower cost. Chief Digital and Technology Officer Satya Ramaswamy outlined the programme in an interaction with PTI.
