Charleroi Airport expects 42 cancellations on Wednesday as Skeyes strike continues

Brussels South Charleroi Airport expects 42 flight cancellations on Wednesday as a strike by Skeyes air traffic controllers continues to disrupt operations at Belgium’s second-busiest airport. The stoppage is affecting mainly Ryanair services and has already forced dozens of cancellations, with return flights also hit as the disruption spreads beyond the night-time work stoppage.

The industrial action began on 16 September at 22:00 and is scheduled to run every night from 22:00 to 08:00 until 10 October. It centres on night-shift bonuses for Charleroi controllers and the planned introduction of digital towers and a new digital control set-up covering Charleroi and Liège.

The latest airport update pointed to 78 cancellations across 21 and 22 September, with further disruption expected the following day. The strike has also caused knock-on effects beyond the direct overnight window, affecting both departures and inbound services across multiple days.
