Iran Air keeps Istanbul flights after no suspension order from Turkey, Azerbaijan or Iraq

Iran Air is still operating its scheduled flights to Istanbul, Baku and Najaf after receiving no official order from Turkish, Azerbaijani or Iraqi aviation authorities to suspend the routes. The airline’s Istanbul service remains active for now, with the carrier maintaining its timetable amid wider pressure on Iran’s aviation sector and disruption affecting some regional operators.

The route update comes as U.S. sanctions continue to weigh on Iranian airlines, creating uncertainty around airport access, handling arrangements and cross-border permissions. Iran Air has also faced market attention because rival carrier Mahan Air has already cut some Turkey services. The Tehran-based operator has kept its Istanbul rotation in service, with reports indicating two daily flights remain listed and that permit data for Istanbul Airport extends into the end of September.

Any change to the schedule would be communicated through Iran Air’s own channels. For now, the carrier’s services to Istanbul, Baku and Najaf continue as planned, leaving one of Iran’s key international links intact despite the broader squeeze on the country’s aviation network.
