Syrian Airlines has resumed direct flights from Damascus to Copenhagen, with the first service operating on Monday. The new route gives the carrier a third direct European destination alongside Amsterdam, while a Vienna service is due to start the following day. Syria’s civil aviation authority has also indicated that Germany is the next European market expected to be added.
The Copenhagen launch forms part of a broader effort to rebuild regular air links between Damascus and European capitals after years of disruption. The airline is using the expansion to reduce reliance on transit hubs for Syria-based passengers and members of the diaspora travelling to and from Europe. Officials involved in the rollout have framed the programme as an ongoing network rebuild, with further destinations in Europe still under consideration. Germany, followed by France and other markets, remains on the list of future possibilities, but no launch date has been confirmed.
