US Army Corps awards $13.65 million B-21 support contract at Whiteman

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has awarded K & K Industries a $13.65 million contract to build a B-21 weapons-release-system facility at Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri. The project will give the base dedicated support space for B-21 armament equipment as it prepares to operate the Raider alongside the B-2 Spirit during the transition.

The work covers a weapons and release-system shop of about 1,580 square metres, along with 674 square metres of alterations. It also includes utilities, communications, access routes, site preparation and cybersecurity measures for building controls.

Whiteman, located in Knob Noster, is being readied as a second B-21 operating base after Ellsworth Air Force Base. The facility is intended to ease the pressure on existing infrastructure so B-21 support work can proceed without disrupting B-2 operations. Completion is scheduled for 31 March 2028.
