Air Cairo signs Airbus A320neo engine deal at El Alamein airshow

Air Cairo has signed an agreement to fit CFM International LEAP-1A engines to its new Airbus A320neo fleet, covering 30 aircraft plus eight spare engines. The deal, unveiled at the El Alamein International Airshow in Egypt, supports the airline’s fleet modernisation and expansion plans as it looks to lift efficiency and grow its network.

The order is Air Cairo’s first direct purchase from Airbus and deepens its long-standing relationship with CFM. The carrier already operates a sizeable A320neo fleet, and the new agreement could take its total LEAP-1A engine count to more than 120 if the wider package is fully realised.

The airline has expanded rapidly in recent years, growing from seven aircraft five years ago to more than 45 today. Its long-term plan targets a fleet of more than 130 aircraft by 2034, with ownership playing a larger role alongside leased capacity.
