Cleaning vehicle collides with parked aircraft at Munich Airport, driver seriously injured

A cleaning-company car collided with a parked passenger aircraft and then struck an unoccupied passenger staircase in a side area of Munich Airport in the early hours of 19 September. The driver was seriously injured and taken to hospital by air ambulance, while airport operations were not affected and no other people were put at risk.

The aircraft was unoccupied at the time of the crash, which took place around 03:00 during the airport’s night-flight ban window between midnight and 05:00. Munich police and airport officials opened an accident analysis to establish the exact sequence of events, including a possible medical episode before impact.

The operator and type of the aircraft have not been identified. The location away from the public passenger zone limited the operational impact, and the incident did not disrupt scheduled traffic at Germany’s second-busiest airport.
