GKN Aerospace has started construction on a $16 million expansion of its North Charlestown facility in Indiana, adding about 57,000 square feet to increase capacity for aero-engine components. The project will lift the site to nearly 97,000 square feet and bring turning, surface finishing and non-destructive testing onto one campus, helping to shorten lead times as demand for engine components grows.
The expansion follows an investment plan unveiled earlier this year and moves the site into a new phase of development. Additional floor space is expected to support broader manufacturing activity and create room for more employees as the business scales up. The added processes are intended to keep more work in-house, reducing hand-offs and improving throughput across the North Charlestown operation.
