Singapore clears Qatar Airways, IAG Cargo and MASkargo cargo joint business agreement

Singapore’s Competition and Consumer Commission has cleared Qatar Airways, IAG Cargo and MASkargo to cooperate on a cargo joint business agreement, removing a regulatory hurdle for a planned partnership covering air-freight routes across Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, Africa, Europe and the Americas. The approval allows the carriers to coordinate scheduling, pricing and sales on affected cargo services.

The commission assessed the arrangement’s competition impact before granting clearance, concluding it was unlikely to eliminate competition while offering potential gains in network reach and cargo service quality. The decision gives the three carriers scope to align commercial decisions on a global cargo network spanning several major trade lanes.

The approval follows an earlier proposal for the joint business and brings the arrangement closer to implementation, although full launch timing and operating terms have not been disclosed. For the carriers, the clearance opens the way to build a more integrated cargo offering across long-haul and intercontinental routes.
