Samson Sky has secured an $80 million investment from Dubai-based Matin Group to fund production of its Switchblade flying car, also known as a roadable aircraft. The deal will support the company’s first U.S. production facility, planned at about 180,000 square feet, as the Oregon-based developer moves the programme closer to commercial manufacturing.
A Joint Investment Agreement has been signed and a joint venture is being established to accelerate production. Samson Sky still needs to raise a further $20 million to fully fund the manufacturing plan. The funding follows a period of development work on the Switchblade, which is designed to operate both on the road and in the air.
The financing gives the company a larger capital base as it prepares for industrial-scale assembly in the United States. Local reporting later confirmed the investment, the planned facility size and the remaining funding gap, underlining the scale of the move from prototype development toward production.
