EasyJet cabin crew based in Portugal have approved two strike blocks covering ten days in October and December, threatening disruption at Lisbon, Porto and Faro during two of the country’s busiest travel periods. The walkouts are scheduled for 2-6 October and 19-23 December, with the first phase expected to affect about 500 flights and the Christmas disruption likely to be broader.
The SNPVAC cabin crew union linked the action to deteriorating working conditions, citing unstable rosters, alleged breaches of the company agreement, unequal treatment compared with pilots, planning failures and pressure to work overtime because of staff shortages. Minimum services still need to be negotiated, leaving the final level of disruption uncertain.
The strike vote follows months of tension between the airline and Portugal-based crew. The timing is especially sensitive for easyJet’s schedule reliability because the October action coincides with a holiday travel window and the December dates fall in the peak Christmas rush.
