A Sepehran Airlines Boeing 737-300 flying from Mashhad to Kermanshah returned to Mashhad after a serious technical problem shortly after take-off caused severe vibration and damage inside the cabin. No injuries were reported after the crew aborted the flight and landed safely back at Mashhad Hashemi Nejad International Airport.
Early accounts differed on whether the disruption began with a tyre burst, a landing-gear problem or an engine-related fault, but later reporting indicated the outer tread on one tyre may have separated. The vibration was strong enough to dislodge overhead bins and ceiling panels, prompting the crew to turn back during the initial climb.
Iranian aviation authorities opened an investigation into the incident, while the runway at Mashhad was briefly closed in at least one report. Passengers were later transferred to another aircraft to continue their journey. The airframe involved was a Boeing 737-300, a model that is around 30 years old and still in service on some regional routes.
