Airbus delivered the first A320neo assembled at its new second final assembly line in Tianjin to China Eastern Airlines on Wednesday, highlighting the manufacturer’s latest industrial expansion in China. The aircraft came from Airbus’s second A320-family assembly line in Tianjin, the company’s second such line in China and in Asia.
The new facility was brought into operation in October 2025 and lifts Airbus’s global final-assembly network to 10 lines. It adds capacity as Airbus works towards a monthly A320-family production rate of 75 aircraft and seeks more flexibility to meet strong demand.
China Eastern Airlines is Airbus’s largest customer on the Chinese mainland by fleet size and has longstanding ties with the airframer, having taken delivery of China’s first Airbus aircraft, an A310, in 1985. The Tianjin site has already become one of Airbus’s key narrow-body industrial hubs in Asia, strengthening the group’s production footprint outside Europe and the United States.
