Frankfurt presents further monitoring results on new Cindy-S departure route

Frankfurt Airport’s flight noise commission has presented additional monitoring results on the new curved departure route Cindy-S, which has been in use since July 2025 and remains under review. The latest assessment indicates that the route is being flown largely as intended, with aircraft altitudes broadly unchanged from the previous procedure and a redistribution of noise around the airport area.

Noise levels appear lower in parts of northern Darmstadt and Weiterstadt, while Erzhausen, Egelsbach and northern Darmstadt-Wixhausen are experiencing higher exposure. The commission estimates that the number of people affected by aircraft noise has fallen substantially, by as many as 20,000 during the day and at night. Further monitoring results are due in October, before a vote by the flight noise commission on 2 December. The debate centres on whether the new route reduces overall exposure or mainly shifts it between communities.
