Qatar Airways Cargo has started a once-weekly freighter service linking Doha Hamad International with Helsinki-Vantaa, using a Boeing 777-200F and routing via Budapest. The new operation, launched on 2 September, gives Finland its first dedicated scheduled cargo connection to Asia and creates a new air freight corridor for Nordic shippers into Qatar Airways Cargo’s wider Asian network.
The service is the third cargo operation to Helsinki and replaces the need to rely solely on ad hoc freight lifts or belly-hold capacity on passenger aircraft. Helsinki’s position on the routing supports freight flows between Finland and Qatar Airways Cargo’s hub in Doha, while the weekly schedule gives shippers a regular lane for time-sensitive exports. The move also expands the airport’s role in long-haul cargo traffic beyond its traditional European connections.
