Air Baltic’s biggest creditors revealed in Chapter 11 filing

Air Baltic has filed for voluntary Chapter 11 creditor protection in the United States, unveiling a creditor list that includes major aerospace, aviation and public-sector claims. The Latvian carrier is continuing operations while reorganising debt and lease obligations under court supervision, backed by €350 million in debtor-in-possession financing to support liquidity during the process.

The largest unsecured creditor is Pratt & Whitney, with a claim of about $66.5 million. Other major claims listed in the filing include the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre at about $42.4 million, Latvia’s Ministry of Transport at roughly $20.06 million and the State Revenue Service at about $15.4 million. Riga Airport is shown with a claim of about $9.07 million, while Eurocontrol is listed at around $5.59 million.

The filing also points to a wider creditor base spanning bondholders, aircraft lessors, banks and trade creditors. Among the other larger unsecured claims named are Shell Energy Europe, Macquarie Aircraft Leasing Services, Wilmington Trust SP Services and Airbus Flight Hour Services. Air Baltic remains majority-owned by the Latvian state, with Lufthansa holding a 10% stake.
