Boeing has reached a tentative four-year contract agreement with the Society of Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace after the union rejected an earlier offer in August. The deal covers about 17,000 professional and technical workers in the Seattle area and is designed to avert a possible strike that could disrupt certification work on the delayed 737 MAX 10 and 777-9 programmes.
The latest offer provides a 10% wage increase from 16 October, followed by a 4% rise in 2027 and annual 6% wage pools in 2028, 2029 and 2030, together with revised work-from-home and overtime language. SPEEA’s negotiation team has recommended acceptance of the proposal.
The current contract expires on 6 October, leaving members able to walk out from 7 October if the agreement is not ratified. For Boeing, the stakes extend beyond labour peace: the union represents engineering staff tied to certification and development work supporting the 737 MAX production ramp and the 777X and MAX 10 timelines.
