Joby Aviation has started a week-long eVTOL flight campaign in Texas under the FAA’s eVTOL Integration Pilot Programme, using its electric air taxi across the Dallas-Fort Worth region. The tests are centred at Perot Field Fort Worth Alliance Airport and include planned operations into Dallas Fort Worth International Airport, as well as routes over Arlington and to Toyota Motor North America’s headquarters in Plano.
The flights form part of Project Nexus, Texas’s initiative within the federal programme to gather operational data for future rules on integrating electric air taxis into busy US airspace. Joby is using the campaign to test operations in controlled airspace and around major airport infrastructure, including DFW.
The Texas flights are Joby’s first eIPP campaign in the state and among the earliest public demonstrations under the programme. They are not passenger-carrying commercial flights. The company has positioned the work as part of its path towards commercial service, while supporting FAA safety and certification development.
