Amerijet Boeing 767 freighter grounded after hard landing in Guatemala City

Amerijet International has grounded a Boeing 767-300F after a hard landing at La Aurora International Airport in Guatemala City left the freighter with visible damage to its forward upper fuselage. The aircraft, registered N373CM, remains out of service while maintenance teams assess the extent of the damage and engineering review continues, including input from Boeing. The incident occurred on Sunday and has taken one of Amerijet’s widebody cargo aircraft out of operation.

Images from the scene show deformation on the upper fuselage, and later reporting indicated the damage may extend beyond a simple skin buckle. Maintenance personnel in Guatemala City measured the affected area before forwarding their findings for assessment, while the aircraft remained on the ground awaiting repair decisions. One option under consideration is a temporary fix that would allow the jet to be ferried to a maintenance, repair and overhaul facility. The aircraft was operating as an Amerijet cargo flight when it diverted to Guatemala City before the landing event.
