Boeing’s final three O3b mPOWER satellites lifted off from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station on 13 September, completing the 13-spacecraft constellation for SES. The F11, F12 and F13 satellites will extend the operator’s software-defined medium Earth orbit network, which is designed to support high-speed connectivity for mobile users, governments and other customers.
The spacecraft join 10 O3b mPOWER satellites already in orbit, with active users including cruise lines, government organisations, civil entities, mobile operators and commercial airlines. Boeing’s system can dynamically route bandwidth, concentrate beam power and reallocate capacity in real time, a core feature of the service. The new satellites are scheduled to enter service in mid-2027 after orbit-raising and initialisation, so the launch completes the constellation but does not bring immediate operational capacity online.
