Amerijet Boeing 767 suffers substantial fuselage damage after hard landing in Guatemala

Amerijet International’s Boeing 767-300F, registered N373CM, suffered substantial fuselage damage after a hard landing at Guatemala City’s La Aurora International Airport on 6 September. The freighter remains grounded after inspections found visible upper-fuselage buckling, prompting engineering review and temporary repair planning before any ferry flight to a maintenance facility.

The aircraft had been operating a Miami-to-San Juan service before diverting to Guatemala City, where it touched down nose-gear first on runway 02/20. Aviation tracking and safety sources indicate the jet taxied normally before the damage was identified, suggesting the impact assessment came only after the landing sequence.

Recent coverage indicates the structural damage may extend beyond superficial skin deformation, with frames and stringers also affected. That level of repair typically requires detailed engineering approval and may keep the aircraft out of service for an extended period. Amerijet is working on a temporary fix to allow the freighter to be repositioned for further maintenance.
