Korean Air will begin offering free Starlink-based in-flight Wi-Fi from 15 September on selected retrofitted wide-body aircraft, starting with three Airbus A350-900s and one Boeing 777-300ER. The service will be available across all cabin classes, with passengers able to connect personal devices in airplane mode without separate membership registration.
The initial rollout is limited to four equipped aircraft, with coverage expanding later across more jets in the fleet. For now, the service will appear on selected medium- and long-haul routes, mainly to North America, Europe and Southeast Asia. Asiana Airlines has also lined up the same launch date and free-access terms, with the two carriers moving in parallel as their planned integration progresses.
The phased approach keeps the first deployment aircraft-specific rather than fleetwide, suggesting a gradual expansion as retrofits continue. Starlink connectivity has become a more visible competitive feature on long-haul services, particularly where airlines are looking to lift the onboard experience without charging an access fee.
