Eurowings and Lufthansa Aviation Training have opened a joint Crew Training Center in Düsseldorf, bringing most cabin-crew instruction closer to the airline’s largest base. The site is designed for up to 150 crew members a day and will handle annual recurrent training as well as the six-week basic cabin-crew course, supporting day-to-day staffing and safety preparation.
The new facility shifts most training away from Berlin and Essen, with a smaller share remaining in Berlin. It includes a decommissioned fuselage section for emergency and evacuation drills, where crews practise in a darkened cabin with smoke and simulated passenger noise. A second mock-up cabin is planned for service-procedure training.
Further stations cover emergency exits, cockpit access, the recovery of an unconscious pilot from the cockpit seat and firefighting in a container-style setup. A hands-on room lets crews familiarise themselves with equipment ranging from life vests to rescue axes.
