Fiji Airways to launch direct Western Sydney flights before airport opens

Fiji Airways will start direct services between Nadi International Airport and Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport on 19 March 2027, making it the first international carrier linked to the new airport. The three-times-weekly route will operate on Mondays, Fridays and Sundays with Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, adding more than 53,000 seats a year across the Fiji-Sydney market.

The overnight schedule is designed to suit leisure and business travel, with WSI departures shortly before midnight and arrivals in Nadi in the early morning. Fiji Airways will keep its existing twice-daily Nadi-Sydney Kingsford Smith services, lifting total capacity to as many as three flights a day between Fiji and the Greater Sydney region.

Western Sydney International passenger services are due to begin on 25 October 2026, so the new Fiji Airways route forms part of the airport’s pre-opening network build-up. The service also expands access for the growing Fiji and Pacific communities in western Sydney while strengthening links to a key tourism market.
