Naples airport closure to force airlines to shift November flights to Salerno

Naples Capodichino airport will close for the whole of November 2026 for runway and taxiway maintenance, forcing airlines to suspend or reroute services from one of southern Italy’s key air hubs. GESAC is coordinating the works with Italy’s civil aviation authority ENAC, and commercial arrivals and departures are expected to stop between 1 and 30 November before traffic resumes on 1 December.

Lufthansa Group is among the carriers withdrawing capacity, with routes from Frankfurt, Munich, Vienna and Zurich affected. Several other airlines, including Iberia, flydubai, easyJet, Transavia, Vueling, Eurowings, Luxair and Neos, are also adjusting schedules, with much of the displaced traffic moving to Salerno-Costa d’Amalfi rather than Naples itself. Some passengers are being rebooked automatically, while others face airport-code changes or cancellations.

The shutdown shifts demand to nearby airports during a comparatively quieter travel month, but it still removes all scheduled commercial flying from Naples for four weeks. That leaves airlines with limited flexibility and passengers with fewer direct options across the southern Italian market.
