Swiss drops Miami crew hotel after months of complaints

Swiss has stopped using its Miami crew hotel after months of complaints from flight crews about unhygienic and deteriorating conditions. Crews have been staying at a different Miami property since 3 September while the airline searches for a permanent replacement for long-haul rotations to the Florida destination.

The move follows repeated internal criticism over mould, pests, dirty common areas, broken elevators and air-conditioning problems. Swiss determined the hotel no longer consistently met its required standard after weighing positive and negative feedback from crews over recent months. The temporary replacement is also used by Lufthansa crews, but Swiss is choosing its own long-term solution independently.

The change affects crews operating the Miami route and reflects a tighter approach to crew welfare and hotel standards on long-haul services. Miami had remained on the roster despite earlier concerns, but Swiss has now withdrawn from the arrangement rather than continue with an accommodation option that no longer matched its operational expectations.
