Trump threatens Bombardier with U.S. sales ban unless it manufactures in America

U.S. President Donald Trump has threatened to block Bombardier from selling jets in the United States unless the Canadian business-jet maker shifts manufacturing to American soil. The warning puts the Montreal-based company’s U.S. market access under direct pressure and targets aircraft including its business jet line, amid renewed trade friction between Washington and Ottawa.

Trump framed the ultimatum as a demand that Bombardier build in the United States if it wants to keep serving American buyers. Reuters reported that he claimed more than half of the company’s revenue comes from the U.S., underscoring the commercial weight of the market for the manufacturer.

Bombardier already has an established U.S. footprint, including a factory in Kansas for special-mission military aircraft and thousands of workers in the country. The company also has manufacturing and service activity across several states, making any forced shift in production a supply-chain and operational issue as much as a trade dispute.
