SES final O3b mPOWER satellites arrive in Florida ahead of launch

SES has received the final three satellites for its initial O3b mPOWER constellation at Cape Canaveral, Florida, with Boeing delivering spacecraft F11, F12 and F13 ahead of a SpaceX Falcon 9 launch planned later in September. The arrival completes the buildout of the operator’s first 13-satellite medium Earth orbit broadband network, while the satellites remain in launch processing before entering service after orbit-raising and commissioning.

Boeing completed the delivery phase for the initial constellation with the handover of the three spacecraft, which now join the 10 O3b mPOWER satellites already in operation. The satellites will be prepared for launch on Florida’s Space Coast, supporting SES’s next stage of deployment for its MEO network.

The system is designed to provide high-speed, low-latency connectivity for government customers, mobile operators, airlines and cruise lines. Commercial service from the newly delivered satellites is still expected only after launch, orbit-raising and in-orbit initialisation are complete.
