Oslo Airport braces for heavy traffic ahead of King Harald V’s funeral

Avinor is preparing Oslo Airport for extraordinary traffic ahead of King Harald V’s funeral on 9 September, with the hub remaining open but facing the risk of delays and cancellations, especially on Wednesday morning when guests and delegations are expected to arrive and depart. Travellers have been told to arrive early and monitor updates through their airlines, while any passengers affected by schedule changes will be contacted directly.

Security coordination is under way with airlines and police, but details on arrivals, departures and delegation handling will not be disclosed. Avinor also warned that access on the E6 motorway may be restricted at times, although rail services are expected to run normally. The airport operator separately reminded the public of the five-kilometre drone exclusion zone around Oslo Airport, cautioning that illegal drone activity could force delays or a temporary suspension of traffic.
