airBaltic has agreed financing terms for an interim funding package of up to €257 million, pending approvals from bondholders and shareholders. The Latvian carrier plans to use the bridge financing to improve liquidity and support its new business plan, with a bondholder meeting scheduled for 11 September.
The package would be raised through the issuance of new bonds maturing on 26 February 2027. Under the proposed structure, €180 million would become available shortly after bondholder approval, while a further €77 million would follow once additional conditions are met. Selected existing bondholders and third-party financiers are involved in the deal, and existing bondholders will also be able to participate.
The financing is designed to stabilise the airline’s near-term cash position without requiring fresh state funding. Latvia may still take part in proportion to its existing bond holdings under recently approved legislation, but the proposal does not depend on an additional government contribution. The agreement remains provisional until the required votes are completed.
