REGENT flies Viceroy seaglider with crew for first time

REGENT Craft’s full-scale Viceroy electric seaglider completed its first crewed flight over Narragansett Bay in Rhode Island on Wednesday, carrying two crew members aboard the all-electric wing-in-ground-effect craft. The prototype travelled about 1,956 feet, remained airborne for roughly 30 seconds and flew at around 33 feet above the water, according to company details carried by industry coverage.

REGENT described Viceroy as the largest all-electric wing-in-ground-effect craft to fly with humans onboard. Designed for 12 passengers, the vessel is intended for zero-emission coastal transport and is treated by the company as a maritime craft rather than a conventional aircraft. The flight follows hydrofoil testing that began in 2025 and forms the final stage of the prototype sea-trial programme, moving the project closer to commercial use on coastal routes.
