Air Canada will launch nonstop service between Montréal-Trudeau and Basel-Mulhouse EuroAirport in summer 2027, using the Airbus A321XLR on a four-times-weekly schedule. The route is set to run from 16 June to 23 October 2027 and gives Air Canada a new Switzerland destination while putting it into direct competition with Air Transat on a market long served by the leisure carrier.
Flight numbers AC966 and AC967 are planned for the route, with slightly different eastbound and westbound frequencies across the season. Basel becomes the third major Swiss airport in Air Canada’s network, alongside Zurich and Geneva, as the carrier expands its summer transatlantic schedule with the next-generation narrowbody type.
The A321XLR is central to the airline’s push into thinner long-haul markets that do not support widebody capacity year-round. On the Basel route, Air Canada will be the only Canadian carrier offering a premium lie-flat business-class product, raising the competitive bar on a city pair where schedule, cabin mix and aircraft economics will all matter.
