Airbus to place A220 full-flight simulator at Singapore training centre

Airbus will install an A220 full-flight simulator at the Airbus Asia Training Centre in Singapore, extending the programme’s training reach across Asia-Pacific as regional operators expand their A220 fleets. The simulator is due to enter service in the fourth quarter of 2027 and will be operated at the Seletar Aerospace Park campus, where Airbus trains pilots and maintenance staff on several aircraft types.

The new unit will be deployed by Flight Training Alliance, Airbus’s authorised A220 training provider and a joint venture between CAE and Lufthansa Aviation Training, while Airbus Asia Training Centre runs operations and delivers instruction. Airbus is positioning the facility as the region’s first dedicated A220 training capability at the centre, reducing the need for crews to travel outside Asia-Pacific for type-rating and recurrent training.

Airbus unveiled the plan during APATS 2026 in Bangkok as demand rises for newer single-aisle aircraft across the region. The AATC is a joint venture with Singapore Airlines and already supports Airbus training programmes, with the additional simulator set to expand its portfolio further for entry-into-service and ongoing pilot training.
