Emirates and South African Airways have expanded their long-running partnership into a reciprocal codeshare agreement, giving each carrier access to nine cities across South Africa and southern and central Africa. The move adds Emirates code coverage on SAA-operated domestic and regional flights, while extending SAA’s reach over Emirates services via Dubai, broadening one-ticket access for travellers across both networks.
The expansion covers Johannesburg-Cape Town, Johannesburg-Durban and Johannesburg-Port Elizabeth, as well as Johannesburg links to Kinshasa, Gaborone, Windhoek, Lusaka, Harare and Victoria Falls. The airlines have also aligned the arrangement to support single-ticket booking, coordinated schedules and through-checked baggage, strengthening connections across key business and leisure markets in the region.
SAA has already been using its code on Emirates flights between Dubai and Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban, with access to 68 Emirates destinations worldwide via the Gulf hub. The latest step follows regulatory approvals and deepens a commercial relationship that has been in place for years.
