Actress Selma Blair was arraigned in Queens on 12 October after an alleged altercation aboard Delta Air Lines Flight 938 from Los Angeles International Airport to New York John F. Kennedy International Airport. She faces two counts of second-degree assault over alleged attacks on a Port Authority police officer and a nurse after landing, while the FBI separately investigates alleged assaults involving cabin crew. The flight arrived without operational impact.
Charging documents allege that Blair kicked the officer repeatedly while being secured to a stretcher and later kicked a nurse in the chest at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center. A judge set bail at $20,000 cash or a $60,000 bond, with the next hearing scheduled for 19 January 2027.
Two flight attendants reportedly sustained injuries during the flight, and one was taken to hospital for evaluation. Blair was also transported to hospital after the aircraft reached the gate at about 11 p.m. Her representative maintained that a medical emergency preceded the alleged conduct and that she received immediate treatment and was in stable condition.
The FBI issued a summons alleging assaults within the special maritime and territorial jurisdiction of the United States. The federal matter is expected to proceed through the petty violations court in Brooklyn. Delta maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards unruly or unlawful behaviour and prioritises passenger and crew safety.
