Boeing forecasts 43,625 new jets needed through 2045 despite geopolitical tensions

Boeing’s 2026 Commercial Market Outlook projects airlines will require 43,625 new jetliners and freighters from 2026 to 2045, with single-aisle aircraft accounting for 77% of deliveries at 33,545 units. The forecast remains unchanged from 2025 despite near-term disruptions including the Iran war impact, underscoring sustained confidence in long-term traffic growth expected to double over two decades. Nearly half of the demand stems from replacing aging aircraft, while the remainder supports an 80% fleet expansion to over 50,000 units by 2045. Widebody deliveries are projected at 7,715, factory-built freighters at 930, and regional jets at 1,435. China will receive the largest share of new deliveries, reflecting Asia’s central role in fleet modernization as over 90% of the 2045 fleet comprises new-generation, fuel-efficient aircraft.
