Kangala Air Express Delivers First Boeing 737 BBJ to Expand Sahel Charter Operations

Kangala Air Express took delivery of its first Boeing 737 Business Jet (BBJ), registered XT-AKD, on 8 July 2026, marking a strategic pivot to premium charter services across the Sahel. The BBJ 737, derived from the commercial 737-700, delivers superior range and passenger capacity compared to typical business jets, enabling non-stop flights between high-value markets like Ouagadougou, Bamako, and Niamey without refueling. This acquisition upgrades the carrier’s fleet from smaller aircraft like the ATR72 and Gulfstream IV to a flagship long-range business jet, targeting government, mining, and diplomatic contracts. The delivery reinforces Burkina Faso’s aviation expansion, positioning Kangala to compete for multi-leg charters in an underserved region where business jet activity is projected to grow 8% annually.
