Air India Deploys Digital Technical Logbooks Across Boeing 787 and 777 Widebody Fleet

Air India has officially replaced paper-based technical records with Electronic Technical Logbooks (ETL) across its entire Boeing 787 and Boeing 777 widebody fleet, following DGCA approval on 13 July 2026. The paperless system enables real-time defect tracking directly from aircraft systems, transmitting data instantly to maintenance teams to eliminate unrecorded issues that previously caused 263 safety lapses. This deployment marks one of the first fleet-wide ETL implementations in India, aligning with global FAA and EASA certification pathways for digital maintenance systems. By capturing defects automatically, the operator reduces aircraft-on-ground time through predictive maintenance capabilities while advancing sustainability goals by eliminating physical logbook usage across its widebody operations.
