Airbus has established a new aerospace technology hub in Mirabel, Quebec, creating a dedicated platform to advance research and innovation with Canadian industry and academic partners. Announced on May 20, 2026, the Airbus Tech Hub in Canada is designed to focus on next-generation technologies that support both the companys global programs and the broader domestic aerospace ecosystem.
The hub will concentrate on three main areas: sustainable materials, decarbonization technologies, and advanced manufacturing and operations. Work on materials will include composite development, circularity initiatives such as titanium recycling processes, and new conductive coatings. In decarbonization, the hub will explore next-generation batteries, electrical taxiing solutions, fuel cells and hydrogen systems, aerodynamic improvements, and the validation of Sustainable Aviation Fuels for the A220 aircraft family.
On the industrial side, the Canadian Tech Hub will support the A220 production ramp-up through the integration of artificial intelligence, industrial robotics, and digital twin applications. By leveraging local expertise and partnerships, the facility is expected to reinforce Canadas role in Airbus global research network and contribute to the development of lower-emission, more efficient aviation technologies.
