Dubai South and Phoenix Aviation have agreed to develop a new airside facility at the Mohammed bin Rashid Aerospace Hub (MBRAH) in Dubai, adding wide-body maintenance, cabin modification and cargo-conversion capacity. Scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2029, the project will include a hangar designed for three aircraft, including the Boeing 777X and Airbus A350, as well as delivery, storage and workshop facilities. Financial terms were not disclosed.
The planned development comprises a 35,000-square-metre hangar, an 18,000-square-metre aircraft delivery and storage centre, 15,000 square metres of workshops and stores, and 3,000 square metres of offices. It will be Phoenix Aviation’s second hangar at MBRAH, joining its existing facility capable of accommodating the Airbus A380.
The agreement was signed during MRO Europe in Amsterdam. Phoenix Aviation founder and chairman Gilles Negre said the expansion was intended to address demand for wide-body services, improve operational efficiency and reduce aircraft ground time. The project is positioned to serve airlines across Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia. No construction start date was provided.
