Condor pilots approve cost-saving agreement with job protection

Condor and the Vereinigung Cockpit (VC) pilots’ union have agreed a package combining temporary cost concessions with protection against operational dismissals. The deal was approved by 67% of eligible pilots in a ballot with 89.1% turnout. It also provides for changes to working conditions and a later 7% pay increase, although the agreement’s full duration and the increase’s effective date have not been specified.

The package was developed in response to Condor’s need for savings amid economic pressure. Pilot concessions include pay freezes, while the airline commits to excluding operational dismissals for the agreed period. The package also introduces a new “Phi” leisure-time model intended to improve work-life balance.

VC president Andreas Pinheiro described the outcome as a compromise that may not satisfy every member, but pointed to employment protection as a key result. The union’s account presents the agreement as having evolved from an initial demand for savings into a broader package with longer-term contractual improvements.
