Zadar Airport has opened a new departures terminal in Croatia, a 17 million euro project that doubles the terminal area and lifts annual capacity to about three million passengers. The upgrade comes as the airport prepares for further expansion, including a 700-metre runway extension and longer-term plans for rail access and a replacement terminal.
The new facility forms the first major phase of a wider investment programme valued at roughly 35 million euros. It is designed to support traffic growth after Zadar handled about 1.6 million passengers in 2025, while also creating room for new routes and stronger year-round connectivity.
County authorities and airport management are already looking beyond the terminal project. The next major investment is expected to be the runway extension, budgeted at about 95 million euros, with future stages also including additional terminal expansion and eventual replacement of the older building with a larger new structure.
