Wizz Air to raise Bologna capacity to 1.3 million seats in 2026

Wizz Air and Bologna Guglielmo Marconi Airport have renewed their long-standing partnership in Budapest, with the airline planning about 1.3 million seats to and from Bologna in 2026, more than 20% above last year’s level. The carrier is now the airport’s second-largest operator, holding an 11.5% market share, as it continues to expand one of its key Italian bases.

The meeting brought together Bologna Airport chief executive Nazareno Ventola and Wizz Air chief commercial officer Ian Malin at the airline’s headquarters. The two sides also discussed further connectivity opportunities from Bologna, including possible new destinations and broader network growth. Wizz Air has carried more than 8.5 million passengers to and from Bologna since starting operations there in 2008.
