Wizz Air expects to return its Pratt & Whitney GTF-affected Airbus A320neo-family aircraft to service by the end of calendar 2027, keeping its recovery plan on track. The carrier had 27 aircraft grounded at 30 June 2026 because of engine-related inspections, down from 41 a year earlier, and sees the fleet slipping to 15-20 grounded jets by the end of financial year 2027 before reaching zero by the end of calendar 2027.
The grounding remains a significant capacity constraint for the European low-cost airline, which depends heavily on the A320neo family across its network. Wizz Air’s latest update points to an improving but still unresolved operational problem, with engine availability and maintenance throughput continuing to shape fleet deployment and growth planning.
The timeline is still a forecast rather than a completed operational outcome, leaving room for slippage if shop-visit progress or parts supply slows. Even so, the latest numbers indicate a clear easing of the disruption from the peak levels seen a year earlier.
