Düsseldorf-based energy company Uniper has signed a long-term offtake agreement with US developer Arcadia eFuels for synthetic sustainable aviation fuel from the planned Endor project in Vordingborg, Denmark. The contract covers 40,000 tonnes a year for more than 10 years, with deliveries expected to start in the early 2030s and the volume described as one of the largest eSAF offtake deals announced so far.
The fuel is intended to be produced from renewable electricity, green hydrogen and captured carbon dioxide, with Arcadia planning annual output of about 80,000 tonnes at the Danish site. Uniper expects to act as a trader and sell the fuel onward to airlines, positioning the agreement as part of the buildout of a European eSAF market under growing regulatory pressure to expand supplies of cleaner aviation fuel at EU airports. The contract volume is equivalent to the fuel needed for about 1,000 Boeing 787-9 flights a year on the Düsseldorf-Abu Dhabi route.
