TUI fly Palma-Düsseldorf flight diverts to Ibiza after radar fault

TUI fly flight X32323 from Palma de Mallorca to Düsseldorf diverted to Ibiza after a reported malfunction in the aircraft’s weather radar, forcing the crew to abandon an immediate return to Mallorca because of poor weather there. The Boeing 737 MAX 8 landed on Ibiza on Friday evening before continuing to Düsseldorf the following day, leaving passengers with an overnight delay and hotel accommodation arranged on the island.

The diversion followed a cockpit equipment issue rather than a passenger or security incident. Aviation sources cited in Spanish and German media said the pilot initially considered turning back to Palma, but worsening conditions over Mallorca made that option impractical. Ibiza provided the nearest workable alternate airport, allowing the aircraft to stop safely while the radar issue was addressed.

The onward leg reached Düsseldorf about 16 hours late. The disruption adds to the operational complexity faced by leisure airlines on high-volume Spain–Germany routes, where weather and technical faults can quickly trigger long delays and unscheduled overnights.
