Trapani airport to close runway for two maintenance windows this week

Airgest will suspend runway operations at Trapani-Birgi airport in Sicily for two planned maintenance windows this week, halting take-offs and landings at the Vincenzo Florio facility on Friday from 08:00 to 20:00 and again on Sunday from 08:00 to 11:00. The work is scheduled maintenance rather than a full airport shutdown, but flights cannot operate during either closure period.

The operator has prepared the temporary suspension as part of technical and infrastructure works on the runway. Airlines will handle cancellations, delays and rebookings directly with passengers during the affected hours.

The timing leaves the airport open for traffic outside the two blocks, limiting disruption to short periods rather than an extended outage. The advance notice gives carriers time to adjust schedules around the closures, which affect one of western Sicily’s key regional gateways.
