Starfighters Space sells Mach 2 flight testing by the sortie

Starfighters Space is selling Mach 2 flight-testing capacity on a per-sortie basis using its fleet of F-104 Starfighter jets. The business is pitching the aircraft as a commercial airborne test platform, framing the service as a “wind tunnel in the sky” for aerospace customers seeking high-speed validation work.

The model targets developers in hypersonics, aerospace hardware and flight-test services who need sustained supersonic conditions without relying entirely on ground-based facilities. A single flight can provide a longer exposure window than a conventional wind-tunnel run, allowing customers to evaluate test articles in real atmospheric conditions that include turbulence and humidity.

The company operates the aircraft from bases in Florida and Texas, and the concept is part of a broader effort to commercialise its F-104 fleet beyond its aviation novelty value. The result is a reusable test service that can support iterative development work by letting engineers adjust hardware between sorties rather than waiting for scarce ground-facility slots.
