Soldier Murillo has become the youngest military tandem parachutist in the Spanish Armed Forces, after completing one of the most demanding specializations in military parachuting. According to the Spanish Air and Space Force, Murillo, 25, successfully passed the rigorous Tandem Course, which qualifies personnel to conduct jumps carrying another person securely attached during descent.
The training, conducted under the auspices of the Air and Space Force, involves advanced instruction in parachute handling, in-flight control, coordination with carried personnel, and emergency procedures. It is considered a high-responsibility qualification because the tandist assumes full control of the jump for both individuals, from aircraft exit to landing.
Murillo’s achievement places him at the forefront of a highly specialized capability used for a range of missions, including training, operational insertions, and support to other military units. His designation as the youngest tandist in the Spanish Armed Forces underscores both the technical complexity of the role and the increasing presence of younger, highly trained specialists within Spain’s military parachute units.
