Schiphol Group offers to raise Maastricht airport stake to 80%

Royal Schiphol Group has offered to increase its stake in Maastricht Aachen Airport from 40% to 80%, giving it majority ownership of the Dutch airport if the proposal is approved. The Province of Limburg would retain the remaining 20%. The plan must be submitted to the Limburg Provincial Council, and the parties have yet to finalise their agreements. No price or specific investment commitment has been disclosed.

Schiphol has held a stake in Maastricht Aachen Airport since 2023. The group says a larger shareholding would allow it to take greater responsibility for the airport’s development, including its role in Dutch air cargo operations. Limburg would remain involved in regional and public-interest matters and support the airport’s transition towards more sustainable operations that take account of the local community.

The group also operates Amsterdam Schiphol, Rotterdam The Hague and Lelystad airports, and holds a majority stake in Eindhoven Airport. The proposed increase would give it a larger role in shaping Maastricht Aachen Airport’s development, but the ownership change remains conditional on provincial approval and final agreements.
